Medical emergency

For those of you who have been following on Facebook, you know that my sister (who is younger than me) had a stroke last week. It was asymptomatic, which means no neurological issues arose from it. So there is no sign of speech, sense or motor problems. However, it was a huge medical scare for the family.

After 4 days in Neurological ICU, she was released. There were no signs of cancer, tumors, AVM, or aneurysms (a word I do not like.) She’s resting at home. However, she still suffers from massive headaches from the pressure of the blood clot against the brain. She’s taking pain killers and other medication to relieve the pressure and stop other symptoms.

So I’m keeping this column short, because I’m exhausted from trips to the hospital, helping out, and worrying. I do appreciate (and I never cease to be amazed at) the kindness of the on-line community. Thank you all for your support in this difficult time.
