I figure the same things I hate about electronic communication, I also love. I hate the almost impersonal way an email looks and acts. People don’t take time to edit their letters. It’s only email, after all. Why worry about spelling or grammer or puncuation?
I love email because you don’t have to worry about spelling, puncuation or grammer.
I hate email because it’s too easy to accidentally delete messages. You can lose everything.
I love email because I can delete whoever and whatever I want, and then use the excuse…”I am so sorry I never did that thing you asked me to. I must have deleted your message.” Or, “I never got it.”
I hate texting and email because this form of communication has spawned cute little phrases, initials and abbreviations that I don’t understand.
I actually like the idea that a new form of communication is taking place. Almost a new language in some cases. And it’s fun to make up things. I’m still not sure what LOL stands for. Laugh Out Loud? Lots Of Luck. So I make up some of my own. STFU. LSMFT. No one has ever written back and asked what they meant so I figure they came up with their own definition.
Like it or not, Texting, Emailing, Facebook and Twitter have changed the way we communicate. Love it or hate it, LWI!
LOL!

  2. I’m with you on this, Don! Yes, the internet and all the baggage that comes with it, have made our lives easier in a lot of ways. But I think it’s made more work for us authors, too. Blogs to write and emails to answer and websites to update . . . it seems there’s always something to take care of, and not enough hours in the day!
