Having a Party

It’s hard to believe it but MurderMustAdvertise will turn 10 in a matter of weeks. It just seems like yesterday that I took the reins from Kate Derie, but in fact it’s been 8 years that I’ve been approving (and deleting) messages for the group. There have been a few feuds, lots of wonderful ideas, and some practices that were introduced via MMA that are now pretty standard in the industry. We’ve been talking about book trailers and making sure that your books get out on eBook platforms lately. All interesting discussions that are not likely to be found anywhere else on the Internet.

In a decade, two editions of Intent to Sell have been published. Over 35,000 messages have been approved (most of them regarding marketing) and we’ve grown from 400 members to 1300 members. Not bad for a decade.

Since the idea of promoting books is to get publicity, we’ll be holding some parties (both virtual and real) along with some contests to promote the group. I hope you’ll show up to at least one of them, help blow out the candles and then think up some ideas for the next 10 years and how to sell your book in a declining economy.
