As Time Goes By

Hard to believe it’s been an entire month since I blogged last. Time flies when you’re having fun, and this last month, life has been moving at the speed of light.

• I had a birthday. And I guess I’m getting too old because lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how I just don’t get tattoos. Don’t get ‘em. Not at all. When I was a kid, the only people I knew who had tattoos were my uncles who’d served in WWII. Now I see them everywhere. On everyone. And like I said, I don’t get it. Why would you want a picture of the Tasmanian Devil on your arm? Or one of Betty Boop on your leg? Maybe at a certain age, I’m just not thinking “tribal” enough. Then again, maybe it’s just a silly trend.

• While I’m at it, I don’t get earrings on men, either. But that’s just me.

• Been busy promoting and signing “Night of the Loving Dead,” the newest Pepper Martin mystery. For the first three weeks it was out, it was in the top 10 of Barnes & Noble mass market mysteries. Pretty cool, huh?

• Did a wonderful signing at Something Different Art Gallery in Cleveland. Thanks to everyone who turned out–what fun we had! And thank you all, too, for donating to the West Side Catholic Center. We took a load of stuff over there last Friday and the nice folks at the center were grateful. (Just so you know: there’s a subplot about homelessness in “Night of the Loving Dead.” If you weren’t able to make my signing, donate something to your local homeless center. They’re always looking for hats, gloves, scarves, etc. The folks who receive your donation will feel warm, and so will you!)

• Planning another signing for February 23 at Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland. Oh yeah, it’s a bar, all right. And we’re going to have a blast! We’re calling it BOO AND A BREW, and we invite you (all of you!) to come on down and get special prices on Great Lakes’ handcrafted beers. You can buy a book (or two) while you’re there, too.

• Did I tour the abandoned convent since last I blogged? I think I did. I promise a whole blog about that one of these days, and I’ll share some pretty spooky pictures, too.

• I’ve recently gotten both a My Space and a Facebook page. Have to admit, I’m not sure how it all works, but stop by and be my friend. Jeff was my first friend. Thank you, Jeff!

• I’m also now the Saturday blogger at http://wickedauthors.blogspot.com/ a group of paranormal writers. Stop by and say hello.

• And finally, found out about a photo contest and since I get a whole lot of email from people who like cemeteries as much as I do, I thought you might be interested. It’s sponsored by the Ohio Cemetery Alliance, and they’re looking for photos taken in Ohio cemeteries. I’m planning on entering, how about you? You can find more information at http://www.rootsweb.com/ohca Good luck! (But not too good…I’m planning on winning!)

  1. you never got tatoos? Or you never GOT tatoos? Consider the butt cap or maybe the ankle bracelet. I’m having a palm tree done on my right cheek.
    ( face cheek, Zorro!)

  2. Had a friend in this life who left us a short time ago.
He’s now guiding his earthly friends from the other side.
I think he’s hanging with Gus and Damon and that bunch…..
Well last night he asked about you and your recent signings….to which he said, please post this for me…”Casey, Casey, Casey” as he shook his head!

  3. For those of you not in on the joke . . . did a signing last week at a B&N store where I signed last year with the Ellora’s Cave authors. They say they write “erotica.” Well, there were 7 of them and me, and Zorro and I remembered that last year when he heard about it, all CR could say was, “Casey, Casey, Casey.” Yeah, I think he’d say the same thing this year!

  4. Earrings on men is not just you. I have never understood it either. Neither do I understand baseball caps on men worn, askew, or backwards (particularly by anyone over fifty) unless you are a baseball catcher, a bicycle rider, or weird. All of the above might look “cute” on a woman, but generally I have a hard time with “cute” men or men who deem themselves as such.

  5. I agree Jay….but your opinion and those who agree with it, is why these guys do it.
Maybe the ladies think they are cute. And if so, I guess we are just ugly and old. Well in my case…..

We need the mark of Zorro, that flesh cutting Z sliced into their cheek….kind of like Don’s mark of Zorro!
I’ll bet Don is not wearing his baseball cap askew any more.

  6. Now that “Z” . . . THAT was manly.

  7. I used to design covers for Ellora’s Cave books. Very steamy. Very graphic.

  8. Orroz . . . and did you pose for some of those covers, too????

  9. Casey,
I received the book you sent for my prize. Thank you so much. I hope to get started on it sooner than later.

  10. Glad the book arrived, Kim. Sorry it took so long. Between the holidays and a deadline, my life was not my own. Enjoy!
