I haven’t signed on the dotted line yet, but the details are worked out, so I can officially announce that after Pepper Martin mystery #4 (Night of the Loving Dead, out now) and #5 (Dead Man Talking, October) and #6 (scheduled for July 2010), there will be at least three more Pepper books. Hurray, this week I agreed to a contract for books #7, #8, and #9!
I’m thrilled to keep working with the great folks over at Berkley Prime Crime, and anxious to see where these next books might take Pepper.

Woo hoo!!!!! Congratulations! I’m glad I have so many Pepper books to look forward to!

I’m looking forward to keeping Pepper around, too. There are plenty of fun possibilities. But…one book at a time…before I can worry about 7, 8 and 9, I’ve got to figure out what to do with her in book #6.

Don’t forget an earlier suggestion on this blog, the tour with actors who aren’t ‘all’ actors.
Great news…congrats =)

Congratulations. It’s great to see Pepper doing so well. I think you have the right series at the right time.

OK, Melissa and Don, you’ve lost me. What tour with actors who aren’t all actors? Am I losing my marbles???

I suggested that a cemetary that would have characters that play the role of the deceased is a good idea, but one of the actors may not really be an actor. One of the actors’ is actually a ghost. You said that would make a great plot for your next book. Just a thought. That’s the concept we’re talking about. Of course, I would need a MAJOR acknowledgment. Then again, if you’ve forgotten about it already…maybe it’s not that great an idea.

NOW I remember! I blame my absentmindedness on the holidays, a looming deadline (will I make it?) and getting read to leave to meet with my brainstorming group. There’s no more room on my brain hard drive and something had to be erased!

Don…..have pity on the poor little Zorro.
I’ve got to live with this Witch…which (haha) is a good thing I guess. If she remembers half the stuff I’m glad her hard drive brain failed to recall, I’d be keeping warm under a bridge with my cape!

Casey, I have really enjoyed your first two books. I do lots of family history so I too have a love of cemeteries. They aren’t scary, haunted places at all but places where we see history, and even love and sorrow. I was born in Akron and although I haven’t lived in Ohio for years I do love Cleveland. So you Cleveland writers are among my favorites. My question is- at one time I saw where I could order an autographed copy at a mystery bookstore. Was that on your website? Thanks and keep going!
