Dear Readers,

We at The Little Blog Of Murder are having an identity crisis. Maybe it’s because we’ve been writing our blog for almost four years now, and possibly it’s because we lost a valuable member of our group earlier this year. Whatever the reason, we are going to take a break from our daily blogs.

It is our intention to leave this letter to you on our blog site for several weeks and gauge your responses, your thoughts, and any ideas you may have. Of course, there’s the chance no one will leave any thoughts or responses! That may be a sign. We will monitor the comments, and we may even comment ourselves from time to time. Sometime after Christmas we will review the last four years and make a decision whether or not to resume the blog.

Please, if you read this letter, leave us a note. Tell us what you’ve liked, what you haven’t liked, or if you have any suggestions as to how the Little Blog can move along…leave us a comment. We always look forward to hearing from you. And please visit our web pages (by clicking on the photos on the left side of the screen). If you’d like to correspond with us individually, we’d be more than happy to communicate with you.

Thank you for being a reader. We’re not going away, only regrouping and exploring our options. Hopefully you can be a part of that exploration.

Casey, Judy, Jeff, Don

  1. So, you’re not leaving? Good. This is a daily pit stop of mine as I’m sipping coffee and trying to wake up enough to do something productive (right now I’ve got edit-itis and would like nothing more than to rip my hair out at the root while screaming in a dark room)

  2. Weighing options. Thanks for the vote of confidence.

  3. You guys deserve a break, and this is a good time to take one. Just relax for a while.

I think you may be feeling the pressure of trying to update the blog on a regular schedule. That can get tiresome, even with the load divided among you. Some of my favorite bloggers only update when they have something to say, and if things get busy, it may be weeks before they come back. I aim for about once a week on my blog, and that seems to work just right. But I don’t set a deadline, as it were. Just pitch in something when the mood strikes you.

I don’t worry about how many responses I get from a blog. People are busy. The fact that a total stranger once replied with a simple, “You’re a good writer,” is way cool.

    Merry Christmas, Little Blog!

  4. Delta/Sky magazine, the in flight magazine for Delta Airlines, has an interview with yours-truly this month. If you’re flying the friendly skies, check it out.

  5. That’s terrific news, Don. What wonderful publicity!

A little news of my own…

Found out yesterday that a German publisher has bought audio rights to “Don of the Dead,” the first Pepper Martin mystery. It ought to be a blast hearing Pepper swear in German!

Also, I have a new book out. No, it’s not a Casey Daniels book. It’s a book written as my alter-ego, Miranda Bliss. It’s called “Dying for Dinner” and it hit the shelves yesterday.

  6. I just wanted to let you guys know that your blog is the best one that I have read. All of you are very interesting and funny, and after a long day at work, I come home and look forward to what you have to say. I too miss C.R. I got his book at the book fair in Wooster and read it right away, but then was kind of sad to have it end knowing that was the last time I would read about Maddy Sprowls. Also, Don, I bought $200.00 worth of books there then went to Borders in Sandusky and bought more. Casey, I am excited about your new book, and I will buy myself an early Xmas present and get it. Well, take a good break and hope sometime soon you will all return.

by Tracy on December 3rd, 2008 at 5:32 pm

  7. If you didn’t bring back the blog I would miss it, but if it is keeping you from writing your books then they should come first. I agree with Steve that the answer may be to loosen up on the schedule. Also, Naked Authors said they were going on a summer hiatus and then never came back. So if you go that route, please post something final. In the meantime, happy holidays!

  8. How nice to hear from people who look forward to reading our blog! Thank you so much.

Good news, Don and Casey! Glad to hear things are moving ahead for you.

  9. I already miss you.

by Orroz on December 4th, 2008 at 7:50 am

  10. Thank you all for sending such positive comments! We’ll take them all into consideration as we move forward.

by Casey on December 4th, 2008 at 8:55 am

  11. I like it! OK, I lurk more than I post, but I do enjoy reading your blog. Working at the library it helps keep me up to date with those authors, you know who you are - that come to my programs. This way I can return the favor a little bit by promoting your new books. Also, it’s fun to get a little insight into a writer’s daily life and the tips on what can be publishing heaven or hell. So, I hope you keep writing this blog.

Thanks for asking for my 2-cents worth, although I think it’s worth at least five!! Linda

  12. Happy holidays to all of you, and a blessed New Year..from the family of C.R. Corwin.

  13. I love this blog. Whenever I have time to blog surf, I try to come by and visit. Sometimes I post. I hope you will continue, but as a group blogger myself, I know it can be time consuming. Have a great holiday!

  16. This was posted on a different blog from Annette:

I visit your blog at least twice a week.
    I find your entries refreshing.
You tend to write mostly about books, which is as it should be. I am so tired of writers blogs that post nothing but politics and complaints
I like Jeffrey’s posts the most.
Maybe it’s because I also work with middle school kids.
    Don’t stay away too long.

by Judy on December 9th, 2008 at 7:39 am

  17. Why don’t you fascinating people get together for an interactive murder mystery? It would be a fun break and I doubt you have the chance to be face-to-face.
Of course I am putting in a shameless plug for my product, but hey - I’ve developed an intereactive murder mystery experience that makes sense and is great fun for a winter weekend. The experience is January 23, 24, 25, 2009 in Wilmington, Ohio and I need to assign you roles, so register by January 15 if at all possible! This is limited to the first 20 guests.

  18. I’m a big fan of the blog and usually read it every morning. I hope you keep it going in some form. I’ve become a fan of all of you through the blog and secondly your books. The blog has been entertaining, educational, and always enlightning in some way. I,too, miss CR.

Thanks and hope to hear from you all soon.

    Happy Holidays,

  19. Thanks to everyone for their kind words of support. It’s wonderful to hear from so many readers! We’re still in the thinking/planning stage as far as the blog is concerned. With the holidays breathing down our neck (and for me, a deadline, too!), I don’t think we’ll make up our minds before the first of the year. Your comments have been helpful and encouraging–thank you!

by Casey Daniels on December 11th, 2008 at 8:49 am

  20. Guys-

I am going to sorely miss checking the blog multiple times a month, but if your creative juices are going into the blog rather than your writing, concentrate on your writing. I know what it’s like to meet a weekly deadline and how it can cause fiction, my primary love, to be put on the back burner.Have a great Christmas and thanks for all the work you have already put into making this the best blog on the net.
Casey- when will your next Pepper Martin book, the one with the great cover, be at Barnes & Nobel?

    Ed Kelemen

by Ed Kelemen on December 13th, 2008 at 3:37 pm

  21. Don’t give up on the blog, Ed! We haven’t made our final decision yet. As for Pepper . . . “Night of the Loving Dead” hits the shelves on January 6.

by Casey Daniels on December 13th, 2008 at 4:14 pm

  22. Don’t go. Pleeeease don’t go! I’m probably like dozens of readers: catch you every week or two, never leave a comment, but sure enjoy your posts. I know it’s a tough deal to keep this up, but I’d sure miss you guys.

  23. Readers;
We are working out the details of the next little blog of murder. I think you will be very pleased with the format and the contributors. Lots of surprises!
And by the way, Rebbie has a new book coming out in March with 5Star. Cast The First Stone.

  25. Hello Don

I’ve heard a little about the new format coming soon. It sounds like a great change to an already very good blog.
Can’t wait to start slinging comments back and forth again.

Merry Christmas to all you readers and to the blog writers, both past and present.
And a special holiday greetings to CR’s family….really missing that guy a lot.

  27. ZZ Top. Zman. Zz. Zman. Z.
The first thing we discussed was banning you from the blog. But I stood up for you. I said you contributed very insightful information. Not very often, but maybe once or twice since we started.
Years ago! Anyway, I saved you a space so you could always send your thoughts…as strange as they often are.
Looking forward to the first of the year when we an do it again, compadre.

  28. Don….Thanks for your continued support. Can I get free ad space for the world’s greatest Z-burger?
Burger King stole my idea for selling men’s after shave or body wash or what ever…..but I think I can top that promo if I could get some comp ad space from the “Lil Blog”.
    What do you think? Yes??

  29. I’d like to weigh in on keeping the blog going. I really enjoy your books, all of you, and have used the blog as a way to see when to seek out a new one. In addition, the viewpoints/insights that the blog posts give about the writing process, well, just about anything have been fun. PLEASE don’t give up the blog….or the books.

What about the group doing one blog post a month, rather than weekly? Of course with the option of an added bonus post as the spirit and events move you?

by Debra on December 21st, 2008 at 2:33 pm

  30. You’re reading our minds, Debra! We’ve got something planned very much like you suggested. Stay tuned for further news!
