A Busy Week!

I’m writing this blog on Monday so I don’t know how yesterday’s election turned out. I can say that I’m grateful it’s over. One more political ad, one more recorded phone call asking for my vote, and I would have screamed!

And since we’ve all had enough of politics, that’s all I’ll say. I will say that last week was a busy one for promotions. I’d like to thank the wonderful ladies of the Brecksville (Ohio) Women’s Club for inviting me to speak last Tuesday and the nice folks over at the Rocky River (Ohio) Senior Center for having me in to spend Halloween morning with them. It was a pleasure to meet all of you!

I spent last Saturday in Wooster, Ohio at Buckeye Book Fair. It was great to see so many readers, to connect with writing friends and to meet new ones.

I had a chance to talk to fellow mystery authors Carrie Bebris (The Mr. & Mrs. Darcy series), Les Roberts (who writes about Cleveland PI Milan Jacovich), Kathryn Wall (fellow Sisters in Crime member and author of the Bay Tanner mysteries) and Sally Wright (who writes about Ben Reese). In addition, when I wasn’t swamped with readers purchasing autographed books, I did as much kibitzing as possible with romance writing buddy, Erin McCarthy, and with Sandy Mitchell, who writes books about Cleveland history.

I shared a table with Anne Kennedy, who illustrates children’s book. I’ve never spoken to an illustrator before, and I found her work process fascinating. No doubt, I asked as many questions as a new writer at a conferences!

I was amazed at how many people knew about our blog. Many of them stopped by to extend their condolences to all of us for CR. His books were on display, and I saw lots of people walking by cradling copies. It was a nice tribute.

All in all, a busy week. Now, time to get down to business and write! At least I won’t get interrupted by political phone calls.

How cute is this? The nice people at the Rocky River Senior Center made a cemetery arch just for me!

This has absolutely nothing to do with today’s blog, just wanted you all to see what we found in Bay Village, Ohio last night!

  1. I had a recorded call from Pat Boone. He said vote for McCain, and if I didn’t, …(he sang..off key) “Aint’ that a shame” ( a song he made popular in the sixties ..stealing it from Fats Domino.)

I told some friends about it and they did not believe me.

When you are in a battleground state, you get hit hard. Florida, Ohio, Indiana…

Glad the book fair went well, Casey. And glad to hear someone actually reads our blog! We all miss CR.

  2. Pat Boone never called me. Don’t know if I’m disappointed or relieved!

  3. Well……Mr Jim Morrison himself called me. What a thrill it was to chat with one of my recording favorites.
He said to never mind about the election stuff…it all a bunch of dodo. He said when I finally get invited to his current place of residence I’ll get to sit back a have a good laugh over the US election system. He said it really is quite a joke!

  4. I never want to hear a political phone call again. No matter who it’s from.

Glad you had fun, Casey. I’ve only been there once, and remember it as a good time.
