In Memory of One of Our Own

It is with great sadness that we here at the Little Blog announce the death of our friend and fellow blogger, CR Corwin. CR (who also wrote under his real name, Rob Levandoski) died on Monday from what his wife called a “massive brain aneurysm and heart attack.”

Rob’s family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm at the Waite and Son Funeral Home, 765 N. Court St, Medina, OH 44256. A celebration of Rob’s life will take place at the funeral home on Saturday at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations made to the University of Akron Foundation, Akron OH 44325-2603, for a scholarship in Rob’s name.

We here at the blog send our deepest sympathy to Rob’s wife, Carol, to his daughters and their families and to Rob’s mother, and his mother and father-in-law.

In honor of Rob’s memory, we’re suspending the blog until Monday–CR’s day to post. On that day, we ask you all to contribute your stories and memories of CR Corwin.

  8. I first knew Rob from his delightful novel Fresh Eggs published by Permanent Press. I bought and sold a lot of it after asking Rob to autograph copies. It was a delightful surprise when Rob submitted a book to Poisoned Pen Press as C.R. Corwin. I was predisposed to like it but I never expected to fall so in love with Morgue Mama, a splendid and indeed unique literary creation (reminiscent actually of my own mother had she held a job as a newspaper librarian on a small Ohio paper). Alaskan author Dana Stabenow was a house guest when I was finishing up editing the first Morgue Mama so I showed it to her. After that she became Rob’s co-editor, excellent on plot — but no one could improve on the character. Rob’s loss is devastating to his family, his readers, and literature, and to his editor who will never again get that thrill of starting a Levandoski manuscript to travel I know not where. It’s hard amidst the grief to celebrate his life and talent with joy, but so we should.

  9. Thank you all for all the wonderful words that have been spoken and written about my dad. It is a true comfort to Carol and the rest of our family. It confirms what we all knew and hold so dear…That my dad was a funny, smart, and talented man. He had a way of looking a person and truly seeing what they were all about. This can be seen in the depth of his characters, and in the way he cared for us all. My sister and I are truly blessed to have had him for a father. Thank you all so much for honoring him !!

  10. I am so sorry about this. Rod and I corresponded recently about his participation in the 3rd Ohioana book festival, so I had just gotten to know him via e-mail. This is very hard for everyone, and a very great loss to literary Ohio. He will be missed.
