    05

We apparently started this blog in 05. I don’t remember the month or day, but I noticed that my code to enter starts with 05. Therefor, I figured that we must have started in 05. If we actually started in 04 or 06, then I’m totally screwed up. I’ve been accused of being totally screwed up before and I can tell you from experience, it doesn’t faze me.

Blogs are a funny thing. I think in my first blog I said I thought it had something to do with bogs. Bogs are often made of peat, and if you are from Scotland, you smoke peat to make Scotch. Just an aside because I like smokey Scotch.

So we started this in 05 and there were two other bloggers who are not active anymore…I was like the outside guy, and when the other two ladies saw that I was being nominated, I think they probably said…”NO!” They may have dropped out of this Blog, or bog. because I was in it. But someone let me in and I’m still writing every Tuesday, or most Tuesdays. I don’t know if people actually read my blog every week, but we moniter the viewership and we have a bunch of people who log on every week. A bunch of people read Judy, C.R., Jeff, and Casey. I have a couple of viewers. My wife, and somebody from work. By the way, he is not threatened with his job if he doesn’t log on every Tuesday.

08 will be three years. Three years of venting, bragging, complaining, exposing the inner feelings…and it doesn’t seem possible. How could someone have 156 different essays to write? ( alright, I missed a couple). 156 different topics to write on?

Two of our members wore out. Judy, Jeff and I are still cranking them out and C.R. and Casey seem to have an endless supply of interesting, topical subjects to explore. Casey’s husband could probably write his own blog as creative as he is. Bob chimes in with some very intersting subjects and some very dry wit. Steve, Caryn, and a handful of other readers have become regulars and I thank them for responding.

I enjoy just writing whatever comes to mind. I don’t have to worry about tense, subject, voice, or any of the disciplines that demand my attention when writing a novel. I hope that I’ve entertained, enlightened, and informed any readers out there and I plan on continuing to write this blog for another three years. For the two of you who actually read it.

So if you’re reading this…and I know two of you are, pour yourself a smokey Scotch and raise your glass. Here’s to three years of Blogs and bogs and amber colored liquor. Here’s to Judy and Jeff, to Casey and C.R…to Zorro , Heather, Sharon, Bob. Caryn, Josephine and Steve and all the rest of you .

If it was just the five of us, writing and responding, it would be worth the time and the fun. But again, I have at least two full time readers…and as all authors know, you build an audience one reader at a time. And I’m looking for number three. Anybody else out there?

    Don

    2. Count me in. I’m hooked. And the nice thing about blogs written by writers is that no matter how informal they may be, their not 2 in4merl that i cant reed them. Know what I mean?

    3. How ’bout I raise a bourbon to the L’il bloggers. (And actually, I check in most every day, although I rarely comment. I figure that’s a favor! )

by Sharon on December 18th, 2007 at 7:51 am

    4. I’ll pass on the Scotch, but I’ll be happy to toast you, Don, with a glass of Polish potato vodka. Ah yes, I’m a vodka snob!

by Casey on December 18th, 2007 at 8:26 am

    5. ‘Twas the week before Christmas
      And all through the bog
      Not a creature was stirring
‘Cept for Don Bruns writing his blog
      “For peat’s sake,” he exclaimed
      Not noticing his misspelling
“What can I write that’s both
      warm and compelling?

(Okay, who’s going to write the next verse?)

      by C.R. on December 18th, 2007 at 8:43 am

    6. Z:
You don’t actually smoke the peat, I mean, not like you smoke a pipe or cigarette or whatever it is that you may smoke. I think that the peat is smoked and the smoke flavors the Scotch. Of course, you might want to smoke peat. Like a cigarette or cigar. It might be interesting. Lead to some new experiences.
      C.R. Here’s the next part

      So he swallowed a sip
      to wet just his whistle
      and picked up his pen
like a long, ink filled missle
      Come words, come on phrases
      Come thoughts, and high praises
To the page to the keyboard
      Much better when printed
      the words now are pouring
      as if he’d just sprinted.

    7. Oh man, I think you all are smoking something!

    8. I thought peat was that stuff you put in flowerpots. But there I go again, showing my rural bumpkin side.

      He read what he’d written,
      And said, “Holy smoke!”
      I think I just wrote
the best thing since New Coke!
      He called in his wife
      And his children
      (who were visiting)
      And all did a dance,
For the scotch was how hitting.
      They waltzed through the night
      And swayed through the day
      Till the time had come
      for Casey Daniels’ essay.

by Judy on December 18th, 2007 at 9:26 am

    9. They waltz ’til they dropped
Then they drank a wee bit more
Soon the words were flowing and Don was writing
      on walls and on floors.
      “Is it brilliant?” he asked,
      and his family didn’t grouse.
      “Only trouble is,” they said,
“Now we have to publish the house.”

by Casey on December 18th, 2007 at 9:41 am

    10. And we heard Don exclaim
      “Hey, this blog’s outta sight,
      And I coulda done better
      If I wasn’t so tight.”

      by C.R. on December 18th, 2007 at 9:41 am

    11. Okay, I’m laughing out loud by myself in my office (because the kids finally went back to school). Isn’t that a sign of insanity?

by Judy on December 18th, 2007 at 10:17 am

    12. I actually have to blog on Christmas Day. I think I’ll just post this wonderful poem again. How can we top it?

      Publish the house?

by Don on December 18th, 2007 at 10:52 am

    13. Yeah, yeah…”publish the house.” It’s a common phrase. Everyone knows it. You haven’t heard it, Don???

by Casey on December 18th, 2007 at 12:13 pm

    14. What are you all talking about????

      z

by Zorro on December 18th, 2007 at 12:38 pm

    15. Is it a one-story house or a two-story house?

      by C.R. on December 18th, 2007 at 12:44 pm

    16. It’s a publishing house!

by Casey on December 18th, 2007 at 1:14 pm

    17. I’m now going to start drinking and smoking scotch.
Yes its only 1:22PM, but it is needed at this point in the bog or blog or what ever.

    19. Yes, Jose! Don, Casey, C.R. and I met you somewhere out toward Cleveland. Twinsburg, maybe? Where was it? We’re always glad when you join us.

by Judy on December 18th, 2007 at 7:45 pm

    20. Jose!
      Thanks for the kind words.
