    Pneumonia

Sigh, or should I say cough! For the 4th time in my adult life, I’ve come down with pneumonia. This is an outcropping of the whole allergies and asthma condition. My bronchitis turned into a sinus infection which turned into pneumonia. Such a circuitous route to feeling bad.

I’m off today to have a chest X-ray, some more tests, and lots of strong drugs. I’m getting lots of rest, and Ellery is keeping an eye on me. In some unknown way, he seems to sense when I’m sick, and he keeps a close eye on me. He’s taken to laying on top of me and watching me as I sleep..

I do hope that this is not like the first time in 1977. I had pneumonia in January of that year. It was the year of the blizzard, and while the doctor said I couldn’t go back to school for 4 weeks, I only missed 3 days of class because of the snow days. We had feet of snow, and blessedly, I couldn’t shovel an inch. (It wouldn’t be until after I left for college that my parents invested in a snowblower, but that’s another story!)

That was the same winter when I tried to learn how to drive. Part of the instruction was navigating in terrible conditions and how to pull yourself out of an ice patch (a skill I neglected to remember several years later when I wrecked a car on an icy road!)

In the meantime, I’m glad that this is a relatively mild case of pneumonia (mycoplasma pneumonia to be precise). I don’t want to be down and out for the holidays. My anti-biotics run out just before Christmas, and I’ll be resting lots over our long winter break. Santa’s bringing me lots of books so I can enjoy myself as I rest.

As for Santa, how do you know what he’s bringing you?

    4. Hoo boy, I had the Big P when I was a kid. Hope you’re feeling better soon.

If you have any Christmas shopping left to do, Judy will drive down on her Harley and give you a hand.

    5. No, my shopping is done. I have to go to the ATM for a few “gifts” but that’s it.

Judy, Santa and I collaborate on my gifts. I have particular books I’d like to get!
