    this and that

I was going through the web site hits and found one that I tracked…all the way to You Tube. Someone filmed me playing Michael Connelly’s guitar at the Killer Nashville mystery conference. I’ve never seen myself perform this song, so it was interesting to see.

If you get a chance. Just copy it and log on.

Had a great weekend at Magna Cum Murder in Munci, Indiana. Lots of authors, friends, librarians, readers and people in the business. Judy Clemans and Carl Brookins hosted some very lively group discussions that were well received. Topics ranged from “Should mysteries do more than tell a good story” to a round table talk about, what else, “what do writer’s talk about.” Saw Caryn and Judy B., and Troy and Harlen and Kent and Libby and a buch of other great friends. ( I won’t mention the two who got lost on the way to Munci).

I’m heading out this weekend for a book signing tour, nine straight days or something like that. If you get a chance, check the website and see if I’m in your area. If so, please call me and invite me for dinner. Okay?

    1. Magna was a great time. It always is. For those of you interested for next year, check it out at http://www.magnacummurder.com. It’s in Muncie, Indiana, where Ball State University is. It’s a small conference, where people have a lot of chances to be together — all meals are part of the conferences, and Jim Huang does a great job of having new and interesting kinds of programming items. Don and I got to be part of a game show, which was a hoot. I didn’t know many answers, but the audience was glad to fill them in.

    2. Nine straight days of book signings sounds brutal. Best of luck with it, Don. Haven’t checked your website yet, but if you’re in Cleveland, you’re definitely invited to dinner!

    5. Here’s a Ernie anderson story for you, Don:

When I was a senior in high school, the Ghoulardi All-Stars basketball team played a fundraiser at our school. After the game, my friend Howard and I went to the locker room. We were on the high school nerwspaper staff and had press passes. We had preapred a joke which we were sure he would love.

We found him on a bench in his underwear drinking a beer. We went up to him and said, “Hey Ghuolardi, how about an autograph?”

      “Sure guys,” he said.

And so we gave him our autographs.
And he flew into a rage and threw us out.

    6. Ah, the young and foolish.

Caryn, I got a brief tour of Don’s house before we headed off to Magna and saw his painting studio. So musician, visual artist, writer… Don, are you hiding your dancing talents now?
