You can ask my significant other. I’m an addict of the worst variety. I try to sneak one or two in before bedtime, and I’ve been known to run home just to get another one in. I love Law & Order. I get a thrill from the Ba-bum noise they make, and I wait patiently for Lenny’s quip before the opening credits. I know Heather loves her reality shows, but for me, I want Lt. Van Buren and no one else!
I could watch it all day long (and thanks to TNT, I know I can!) I get giddy at the thought of a mini-marathon, and a full day on one of those holidays, like Christmas, is a treat beyond compare.
It’s not that I try to guess who done it. I can just sit and watch without trying to outwit the detectives as I do in mystery fiction. With a book (my book mark is in Fleshmarket Alley at the moment), I feel the need to try to solve the case. With L&O, I just sit back and watch the professionals do their work.
I don’t even try to stop my problem. I’m content to have this monkey on my back. Now I’m going back to watch yet another L&O episode, an apparent mob hit that might not be.

Ah, Jeff, it’s nice to know there are more of us out there! I, too, am addicted to L&O, but only the reruns, not the new ones on network TV. So who are your favorite detectives? Lenny’s number one in my book, hands down. Then Mike, I think, but Ed’s running a very close second.

Jeff, we own a bunch of the L&O dvd’s. So try L&O without commercials!
We still do the tv reruns too.
Notice Casey went for the best detective…. what about the others?
But I agree with her on Lenny. He’s going to be tough to top….even over the long run.

Your point of view of L&O would be different if your paying job was to sit through them at your local NBC station. As a master control operator I’m the guy who puts the local commercials IN. The hardest part of my job? Tracking whether this is L&O, L&O SVU, L&O CI, L&O Special Crimes, L&O with Honey and Granola, or the L&O Railroad.
If you haven’t heard, NBC will not be airing episodes with Fred Thompson while he’s running for president, but TNT will.

I don’t watch my network TV anymore. Is Hill Street Blues still on?

I wondered about the Fred Thompson thing. Won’t the other candidates be demanding their own hourly dramas? Oh, wait…all we get from all of them is drama and more drama.

Hey Steve….just cut the ciommercials!
That’s one of the reasons we went to dvd’s.
Here in Cleveland, we can recite word by word each commercial aired with L&O…but can I tell you what the product is they are advertising? Nope.
Yep, Casey’s right again. Political D_R_A_M_A!

How about St. Elsewhere? That still on?

Sorry, no St. Elsewhere or Hill Street… or Cheers. But, the Bionic Woman is back! No kidding.
If I ever want to quit my job in a hurry, Z, I’ll take your advice and drop the commercials. You think you’ve got them memorized? I recorded the voice over on some of them.

I’ll have to go look at some L&O DVDs tonight. How exciting!!
