Well, the dog days of summer are upon us again, and for me, who seems to be allergic to everything in the great outdoors it means my time to read. Just to give you an idea, I’m allergic to freshly cut grass and tree dust. I skated through the whole ordeal of the son having to mow the grass to help out. I either had to wear a mask (ala Michael Jackson) or take enough medication that I once ran into a tree with the tractor (I’m not kidding.) We replaced it with a tulip tree. Same with raking leaves. I had to wear long sleeves or risk rashes or again more medicine.
So while this time of year might mean camping and boating for many, it’s time for me to pull out the books and read. I managed a trip up to 1/2 price books last week and to Grave Matters a few weeks back. So I have sufficient reading material.
Along with that, my poor little Scottie is suffering from arthritis these days, so we have become quite the reading pair. He sleeps on the bed while I recline. I’ve always been a fast reader, so it takes a lot of books to fill a month. I’ve gone through about 7-8 books in the past 3 weeks. I just finished another faux Nero Wolfe, and I’m starting on the first Perry Mason, TCOT Velvet Claws.
I’m still writing, and working on my proposals for my new biographies. I hope to announce something soon.

Wow…I thought my alergies were bad!
And I mean were….docs told me they could go away, but then they may return. Mind did go away, and have yet to be seen again….its been 10 yrs.
Hope yours go away too.
But while I had them….misery! I could sneeze up to 900 times in a day!
Always thought Casey would write a book about those events in our lives.
Then there was the sneezing event on my roof top….oh boy.

Zorro, my allergies were under control for about 25 years, and now they’re back with a vengenance. I didn’t have shots or pills or such from about age 18 to 42. Since then, it’s been bad again.

The good news about allegies is nobody is mowing much this summer. Because of the drought I’ve mowed maybe 3 times all year.
I wasn’t sure how good those Perry Mason books really were. I have a rather battered copy of TCOT Lucky Loser. Copyright 1956. This is the 4th printing in 1963. Pocket Books. I’m afraid reading it would destroy it. Found it in my attic.
