    Where did summer go?

Well, it’s nearly the end of my summer break. I have officially 9 more days of freedom, before I start back to school again. And of course, like most of my students, I’m now in a hypermode to get everything done that I should have been doing all summer.

First and foremost on my list is to complete the 2 proposals for new biographies. You see, I’ve decided to take things to the next level with the biographies. I’m choosing 2 subjects who are incredibly prolific and best-selling to concentrate on for the time being. I would like to be able to take my career to the next level, and while I have loved working on lesser known authors, it’s a bit annoying at times to have people say “who?” Both of these authors would cure that situation, for sure. Of course, along with that, it means a new agent, one who is more in tune with the non-fiction biography markets. So I’ve been supporting the USPS single-handedly this summer as well.

This, of course, means that I’ll be working multiple years on each one and doing quite a bit of reading as well. That’s ok. There’s nothing I enjoy more than relaxing in the summer and reading as much as possible. It’s not what my kids will be squeezing in during the next 9 days, but it suits me fine.

*** Just received my copy of First Among Sequels by Jasper Fforde, so I’ll be doing some pleasure reading this weekend.

    1. It’s hard to believe you’re already talking back to school, Jeff. I hope you enjoyed your break. The new bios sound fascinating. Can’t wait to hear more.

I’m sure a lot more people will be reading over these nexr two or three weeks.
I saw my sister’s daughter yesterday. There was a copy of Casey’s book on the counter, so I asked my neice if she had read “The Chick & the Dead”. She said ‘noooo”, and proceeded to state she had not even started her summer reading yet! Oh boy! What you teachers have to contend with these days.

    3. 9 days? Good grief, you Cinci folks go back early! My kids don’t start until the 24th. Happy reading!!! And I can’t wait to hear who your two biography authors are.
