What a Week!

What a week. With all the wars going on, the devastation, the terror plot to blow up planes, it’s a wonder to me that readers still read murder mysteries. Aren’t we just feeding the fire? And then I get a letter from a reader who says
“Thank you for taking me away to a Caribbean Island. Thank you for introducing me to good and evil characters that only exist in your mind and mine. Thank you for letting me escape for a few hours and know that the good guys will win in the end. Please keep writing, because there are times like these that we all need a good book to get lost in.”
Thanks, Janice. I’ll pass this word along to the blog group and any other writer who needs a lift.

  1. Janice hit the nail on the head, so to speak. And not just for writers. For all of us who crave the escape a really good book brings.

  2. I remember right after 9/11 how writers were wondering what meaning it all had. But you’re right, Don. Our books give justice and good a chance to prevail in our unsteady world. And everyone needs a chance to escape, if only for a little while!
